In the last 20 years, the Castro Valley Women's Club has donated over $200,000 in financial and volunteer help to local worthwhile causes. Through our work and our donations over our 77 years, we have continued to build the spirit of community within Castro Valley and have donated more than $455,000.
Castro Valley High School Scholarship AwardsOur largest and most continuous support has been to education, through annual scholarships awarded to Castro Valley High School seniors. Each spring we review the students who have applied for our scholarship, and select three students who show great levels of passion that promise to lead them down intriguing and noble paths.
This year, we are supporting this scholarship fund via
Poinsettia Sales from Headstart Nursery in Gilroy.
Other Community Service Projects
The club has also supported leadership seminars for students and funded civic trips through
Close Up. Our donations to
Building Futures,
Family Emergency Shelter Coalition and
Ruby's Place helped women and children find safety, housing and hope. Financial and volunteer help to
SOS/Meals on Wheels and
Spectrum Community Services assists seniors in their effort to live independently by helping with nutrition, fitness and energy efficiency.
Operation Dignity donations serve homeless veterans and their families. while aid to
George Mark House provides medical and psychosocial services to children facing life-limiting illness. We have also supported the
Mosaic's "Outdoor Project" that brings together 4th and 5th grade classes from markedly different communities for a profound weeklong experience in nature. Their evidence-based, social-emotional learning curriculum is designed to address issues of difference, build self-esteem, and inspire inclusion.
