If you are interested in learning about shorebirds, please join Tammy at the Elsie Roemer bird sanctuary in Alameda. We hope to catch some nice views of migratory shorebirds feeding on the mudflats, as well as terns making acrobatic dives into the water to hunt for fish.

From 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, we will be at the viewing platform on Shoreline Drive near Broadway. At 9:30 AM, we will head south (to the left when facing the water) along the dirt trail to another pier about a quarter of a mile away.

Directions & Parking:

Elsie Roemer is located at the south end of Crown Memorial Beach in Alameda, at the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Broadway. Street parking is available on Shoreline Drive or Bayview Drive.

Carpooling & Gear:

Elsie Roemer is about a 30-minute drive from Castro Valley. Please email me at tammywang@gmail.com if you are interested in carpooling, as I can provide a ride. Binoculars will be very helpful, and I will bring a few extra pairs in case anyone needs to borrow one.
